A vibrant, high‑quality colour morph of the common Armadillidium vulgare, bred for its striking appearance and exceptional hardiness. Adults grow to 18–20mm, similar in size to standard lines, but display a beautiful bright orange to rust‑orange base colour, often with subtle darker speckling along the edges or between segments. Like all vulgare, they are true “roly‑polies”, rolling completely into a smooth tight ball when they feel threatened. This morph is known for being extra robust, active, and fast to settle in new setups — making it both a fantastic cleanup crew and a standout display species. Great for beginners and experienced keepers alike, ideal for bioactive vivariums, reptile enclosures, or dedicated breeding tubs.
📖 Care Guide

• Temperature: 15°C – 26°C; ideal range 18°C – 22°C — thrives perfectly at normal UK room temperatures

• Humidity: 50% – 65% — provide a clear damp/dry gradient; keep one side lightly moist, the rest dry and well‑ventilated

• Substrate: Coco fibre mixed with organic topsoil, 3–5cm deep, enriched with plenty of oak/beech leaf litter and calcium‑rich rotting wood

• Food: Main diet = dried leaf litter and decaying hardwood; supplement with vegetables (carrot, sweet potato, squash), fish flakes, dried shrimp, and a constant calcium source like cuttlebone or crushed eggshells

• Housing: Well‑ventilated plastic tub or tank; add plenty of hides such as cork bark, flat wood, or egg cartons — they prefer dark, sheltered spots

• Growth & breeding: Reliable, steady breeders; females produce regular broods, and juveniles mature in roughly 4–5 months under good conditions

“Orange Vigor” is a selectively bred colour morph developed from Armadillidium vulgare stock, chosen over generations for its consistent bright orange colouration and strong health — hence the name “Vigor”. It is not found naturally in the wild, but is a stable, established morph widely kept in the European and UK hobby.
