Giant Orange Isopods Porcellio laevis are large, bold, and highly active isopods, famous for their striking solid bright orange colour, smooth glossy bodies, and excellent performance as a top-tier cleanup crew. Adults grow up to 2.3cm, bigger than many common species, with a robust build and lively nature that makes them very noticeable and fun to watch in any enclosure. They are incredibly hardy, fast breeding, and perfect for beginners or experienced keepers, thriving in bioactive tanks, vivariums, terrariums, and display setups while efficiently breaking down waste, leaf litter, shed skin, and decaying matter to keep your ecosystem healthy and balanced. One of the best large isopods for sale in the UK!

📖 Care Guide
- Temperature: 16°C–32°C, extremely tolerant of fluctuations and temperature changes
- Humidity: 55%–75% — always provide a moisture gradient; keep one side damp with moss or soil, the rest drier
- Substrate: Coco fibre, organic soil, or bioactive mix, 3–6cm deep, mixed with plenty of leaf litter and rotting wood
- Food: Main diet = oak or beech leaf litter + decaying wood; supplement with vegetables, fish flakes, dried shrimp, and calcium like cuttlebone — extra protein helps prevent nipping
- Enclosure: Well ventilated tub or tank with plenty of hides such as cork bark or moss; they breed quickly and form large, active colonies very fast
- Easy to keep, low maintenance, great for viewing, completely safe with most reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates
