Medium‑to‑large size, reaching up to 18–20mm, with a deep dark base colour marked by bright cream, yellow or orange bands across the back — giving them their popular “Clown” name. Adaptable and easy to keep, they thrive in setups with a moisture gradient, reproduce steadily under good conditions, and work great both as display specimens and as part of a balanced bioactive cleanup crew. 📖 Care Guide

• Temperature: 18°C – 26°C; ideal range 20°C – 24°C — avoid constant heat above 27°C

• Humidity: 50% – 65% — provide a clear damp/dry gradient; never keep them soaking wet all over

• Substrate: Coco fibre, organic soil or mixed substrate, 3–5cm deep, mixed with plenty of calcium‑rich rotting wood and oak/beech leaf litter

• Food: Staple = dried leaf litter + hardwood; supplement with vegetables (carrot, sweet potato, courgette), fish flakes, dried shrimp, and calcium source such as cuttlebone or crushed eggshells

• Housing: Well‑ventilated tub or tank with plenty of hides — cork bark, flat wood or egg cartons work best; they prefer dark, sheltered spots

• Growth & breeding: Slower to multiply than smaller species, but colonies build steadily; young mature in around 4–6 months with proper care
