ORIGIN: Sourced from the localized karst limestone forests and tropical cave microclimates of Thailand.

DIFFICULTY: Moderately Easy / Advanced Beginner (Excellent starter Cubaris)

TEMPERATURE RANGE: 22-26°C. They prefer a warm, stable room temperature environment and will struggle if exposed to sudden cold drafts or freezing conditions.

HUMIDITY & MOISTURE: 75-85% humidity. They require a rich, highly humid environment with deep, moist substrate that isn't soaking wet. Maintain a clean moisture gradient where one half of the enclosure features a deeply damp patch of wet sphagnum moss, while the other side is kept damp-dry under bark cover. They are soil-dwelling burrowers and require at least 2 inches of a light, non-dense substrate mixture to tunnel safely. Moderate ventilation is ideal to prevent stagnant air.

DIETARY NEEDS: Their everyday diet relies on a constant, deep supply of organic leaf litter and crumbling white-rotted wood. Because they are a specialized limestone-dwelling species, you must provide a permanent calcium source like cuttlefish bone or limestone chunks to support their heavily calcified carapaces. Supplement them once or twice a week with easy protein updates like high-quality fish flakes, dried shrimp, or minnows to keep the colony healthy.

ACTIVITY LEVELS: Moderately active. They can be somewhat shy, cryptic, and prone to burrowing into the soil when first introduced, but they become remarkably bold and surface-active under bark and moss patches once they settle in.

REPRODUCTION RATE: Moderate. While they start out slow and take time to adjust to a new setup, once established they are highly productive and reliably produce steady broods of babies.
